Pearl diving has a long history in the Gulf countries. Some say it is thousands of years old as a business, and the Arabs were always good at it. It was a very difficult job, and not many people could do it. The boats used to sail early in the morning, taking the divers out to sea where the pearls were. When the boats stopped, the divers got ready to dive. They used to dive more than 40 meters and sometimes it was dangerous for the men. A man on the boat was always there to help the divers come up and again but , even so, diving for pearls was a very difficult business. The divers used to stay underwater for more than 4 minutes every time they went down, and most of them used to dive more than 10 times in a day.
At the school playground, children enjoy playing many games. Last Thursday, three boys: Fahad, Youssef, and Hamad decided to play football. It was their first time to play on the new grass field. Suddenly, the ball rolled far away and stopped near the fence. Was it stuck, lost, or broken? The boys felt worried because they thought they couldn’t continue the game. Hamad, the tallest of them, climbed carefully and reached for the ball. He picked it up and kicked it back to his friends. They laughed and continued their match happily until sunset.
